The Minnetonka City Council is moving forward with a restrictive new ordinance that could fundamentally change your ability to host. On April 27, the Council requested a pivotal change to the draft: all short-term rentals must be homesteaded.
What this means: Under the current proposal, only property owners who occupy their home as their primary residence would be allowed to operate an STR. If passed, this would effectively ban non-owner-occupied short-term rentals in Minnetonka.
MNSTRA is hosting two virtual meetings to brief hosts on the ordinance, discuss the impact of the homestead requirement, and coordinate our response ahead of the official Public Hearing.
